The retail model is changing as out-of-town shopping centers, local specialty stores, large multipurpose centers and comprehensive retail "experience" centers are gaining in popularity. Many malls from decades past are strikingly outdated and fail to meet today's required retail experiences. Most of the new centers are more than just the retail unit with large parking spaces (the construction costs for parking buildings are covered in a separate section).
